With this my supervisor and I reached out to the research ethics member for Cyber Security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had to complete a form providing details of my research and explain the lab environment of where the data sources for cryptanalysis would be generated and used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"886\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alanknipmeyer.phd\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.alanknipmeyer.phd\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-1.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.alanknipmeyer.phd\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-1-300x260.png 300w, https:\/\/www.alanknipmeyer.phd\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-1-768x665.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>With the administration of my part complete, my supervisor submitted the necessary paperwork for approval, and was pleased to receive a favorable result, meaning my research can be conducted in the lab environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What was of interest is that my data will eventually be processed on a cloud solution, such as Amazons Sagemaker for Machine Learning, brining this to the attention of the at the earliest possible stage was a good idea, thankfully as long as my data sources are that of the lab, the processing can be done outside of the environment as shown in the HLD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To summarize<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>always ensure that your research is approved by the necessary research ethics committee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>if there are changes, be sure to let your supervisor and the member on the committee know<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Publicize approval in your thesis, ensuring it is matching the required citation, in my case &#8220;\u2019This work has been reviewed with a favorable opinion from the School of Computer Science and Engineering Ethics Board, outcome number CSEE-R-2023-CG-001.\u2019&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Bangor University Research Ethics Site <a href=\"http:\/\/nshss.bangor.ac.uk\/researchethics.php.en\">here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With my research proposal being around cryptanalysis, there is potential for it to illegal or not suitable for research.
